pale squid rosslare harbour
Well the weather over the last month or so has been quite eventful. Stormy conditions has meant delays, cancellations and sometimes risky docking manoeuvres down at the Rosslare ferry port.
However as the sayings go “Its an ill wind that blows someone no good.” and “Every cloud has a silver lining” and so since there has been a lot of both wind and clouds over the last while there has also been some dramatic displays of the raw force of nature and how we as humans with all our technology still just light the fire and hunker in our caves until it moves on and its safe to venture out again.
The combination of strong wind, waves, and tides has also dredged up a lot of materials and creatures from the lower depths to deposit them on the beaches with many starfish and pale small squid like creature littering the beaches. Some more unusual pieces of sea glass and pottery have also popped up as the volumes of sand gets churned and shifted around in the high seas. The weather has also been a particularly hot topic on twitter this month with people from all parts of the country comparing wind speeds, rainfall and, the size of hailstones.
It has not been all doom and gloom either with some very fine and sunny days peeking through on occasion. Hopefully now with April ending and moving into summer the sunny southeast weather gets back to some stability as the festival season gets into full gear. If you want to see what on near you weather permitting of course the calender of events in Wexford may have something to interest you.
If we can’t get to see the northern lights this far south we will just have to make do with the thunder and lightning when it comes and put up with the side effect of rain and hailstones. Even the hailstones can entertain sometimes when the are on beat. Here is a little video of them drumming along.
Have fun and if you have some images or videos of the recent weather be it the spring storms, April showers or some hints of the good summer weather we all want more of feel free to add them in the comments.
