Carnsore point and the surrounding south Wexford area.
The region is located in the very south east corner of County Wexford, Ireland. Carnsore Point is in fact the most South Easterly Point in Ireland.

The local area is coastal with a mixture or rocky out-crops, dunes and fine sandy beaches these accomodate many and diverse species of flora and fauna. Much of the area has being designated as special ecological importance both nationally and worldwide. The land is predominantly flat with little in the way of large forests. Most of the trees and vegetation are located in hedgerows and and sheltered spots to protect themselves from the brisk sea winds. As with most of Ireland the climate in the area is in general mild and temperate. However the South East boasts the highest duration of sunshine in the country earning it the descriptive phrase "The Sunny South-East!". This means that on average the weather warmer and drier than most of the rest of the country.

The area around Carnsore Point is one of the most scenic and popular stretches of the Wexford Costal Walk, (Sli Gharman in Irish) and the region contains a number of areas of special conservation for wildlife. This makes Carne and Carnsore Point an ideal location for eco tourism with many well marked walks and cycle routes close by. Many people come to the south east of Wexford from far and wide for various out door activities. These include bird-watching, walking, geocaching, swimming and angling.
